A tubular bezel setting is ideally suited for faceted stones. We will use commercially made tube bezels, make our own from thick-wall tubing, or using two pieces of thin-wall tubing, and making a custom-made one from bezel strip or thin sheet metal for oddly shaped faceted stones. We will also discuss modifications on various tube bezels. How to make a flower or crown bezel using fancy gallery wire, plus creative filing to create more 3-D tube bezels. Tips on filing thick wire to hold tube bezels on each side will be covered.
Basic metalsmithing or jewelry skills are necessary for this workshops. Instructor will provide a limited amount of sterling tubing, bezel strip, sheet metal, sterling and gold bezels plus small faceted gemstones for setting. We will be working mostly in silver.
