Introduction to Spinning, Saturday, January 18 - February 1 | 10A - 12P | 3 sessions
Learn the basics of hand spinning yarn, including how to draft the fiber, spin it into yarn, as well as how to ply and set your yarn. We will explore different types of wool and spinning techniques, as well as wheel parts and maintenance.
Advanced Spinning: Playing with Plying, Saturday, February 8 | 10A - 1P
Using wool roving, learn the techniques to make two-ply, three-ply, and four-ply yarns.
Natural Dyes from the Kitchen, Saturday, March 1 | 10A - 1P
Liven up your fiber and textile projects with kitchen scrap dyes! Make dye baths from repurposed food waste (like coffee grounds, wilted greens, onion skins, and more), and impart beautiful natural color to our materials.
Hand-Painted Yarns, Saturdays, March 8 & 22 |10A - 1P | 2 sessions
Learn the basic techniques of hand-painting yarn such as variegated, “pansy”, speckled, and gradient. Experiment with color and fabric composition as you dye up to 8 oz of fiber!
