Learn the chemistry and techniques of indigo dying! Prepare a variety of silk and cotton fabric by stitching, folding, and binding into patterns. Dip them into the natural indigo vat, then watch as it turns blue before your eyes; lift it out and remove the resist to reveal the unique pattern.

Supplies: A variety of fabrics and a scarf are included with registration. Students are welcome to bring the equivalent of a t-shirt or small skein of yarn to dye, as well. Additional materials may be available for purchase at the workshop.
