My path to becoming an artist can best be described as meandering. I first obtained an MS in Mechanical Engineering to gain the skills it would take to perform random acts of creativity. During my time as an engineer, I found myself searching for beauty and moments of calm in everyday life. While engineering was amazingly creative and innovative, it did not fulfill that longing.
In 2007, I became a juried member of the League of NH Craftsmen and the Cardigan Mountain Art Association. I pursued the arts through the medium of fiber since my experience with it stemmed back to my childhood, learning to design and sew from my Grandmother at her kitchen table.
As my art developed, I delved into other mediums. I soon discovered that, like engineering, there are many tools and materials available to make dreams become realities. My technical background enables me to understand the properties of the medium with which I am working, giving me precision for heirloom quality work.
I have been the featured artist at the LNHC gallery in Meredith, NH and at the McLane Audubon Center in Concord, NH, an artist in residence at the Mascoma School District for two years and at the Balsams Resort for two years. I curated the TWISTED Fiber Show featuring over 100 artists, and was a guest lecturer for the “Signature of Excellence” series. I taught at League of NH Craftsmen CraftStudies in Hanover, NH from 2009 until the pandemic hit our community. In addition to promoting the arts through education, I have done solo exhibits of my artwork throughout New Hampshire and Vermont.
