Community Learning Coordinator
CraftStudies’ Community Learning Coordinator works collaboratively to create and foster a welcoming, inclusive, and supportive learning environment for CraftStudies’ community of teaching artists, volunteers, and students. This primarily includes the coordination of classes, workshops, camps, and Open Studios across CraftStudies’ clay, jewelry, and fiber studios; and coordination and development of CraftStudies’ community outreach and partnership efforts. The Community Learning Coordinator reports to the Executive Director; working closely and communicates regularly with CraftStudies teaching artists and volunteers.
Reporting to the Executive Director, Community Learning Coordinator responsibilities include:
Class, Workshop, and Camp Coordination
Ensure teaching and guest artists have adequate support for facilitation of classes, workshops, and camps. This includes student roster with names and contact info, supplies, building access, setup support, and teaching assistance, if needed.
Ensure students feel welcome, comfortable, and equipped to learn (e.g., advance communication; accessibility; facility and organizational orientation)
Track student registration; determine class/workshop viability, and coordinate cancellation with teaching artists, communicate cancellation to registered students and on website, as necessary.
Coordinate birthday parties and private events (e.g., assign teaching artists, gather supplies, reserve space, communicate with participants)
Collaborate with CraftStudies team to envision, coordinate, and schedule seasonal programming to support our mission and strategic direction, including classes, workshops, camps, retreats, and community events.
Volunteer Coordination
Serve as the main point of contact for volunteers (e.g. studio monitors, hospitality, gallery) through meetings, email, shared calendars, and text chains, as needed.
Ensure there is volunteer monitor coverage for scheduled Open Studio and community events.
CraftStudies Community Learning Coordination & Development
Co-develop and coordinate teaching artist planning, evaluation, and feedback
Co-develop and coordinate teaching artist and volunteer community learning opportunities
Community Partnership Coordination and Development
Coordinate current community program partners: Upper Valley Haven After School, Hartford Regional Resource Center, Bugbee Senior Center, and Creative Aging programs
Coordinate community outreach events and opportunities
Explore and co-develop additional community partnership opportunities (e.g. homeschool, Scouts, early childhood, schools and teachers)
Administrative
Participate in regular meetings with admin staff, studio-based teams, and learning communities.
Student Communication, as needed
Qualifications & Requirements
Highly organized, detail-oriented, punctual, with high quality standards
Capable of coordinating multiple people and projects simultaneously; prior experience in managing people and projects is a plus!
Highly motivated, friendly, and kind demeanor
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Responsive, reliable, and thoughtful communicator.
Experience in creative arts education; the teaching and learning of children and/or adults from a wide range of ages and backgrounds
Commitment to and interest in creating, fostering, and participating in a welcoming, inclusive, and supportive community learning context.
Ability to work independently and cooperatively with CraftStudies staff, volunteers, students, and community members
Curiosity, interest in, and ability to expand understanding of and approach to relevant skills, knowledge, and practices.
Strong working knowledge of Google Suite (google suite, docs, sheets, calendars etc.).
Acknowledgement of no criminal record, as reportable through a background screening
